*** ANNOUNCEMENT ***

We have been holding off on this announcement as long as we could, but there is no chance left now so... The 2008 Merced West Coast Antique Fly-In is officially cancelled.

We didn't want to cancel it, but the insurance alone is about $8500 and we just couldn't raise it.  We were hoping for some big corporate sponsor to step up to the plate and save our butts, but it didn't happen.  For those of you that plan on coming to Merced that weekend anyway, while we won't have all the usual bells-and-whistles, we'll still make sure you get taken care of.

What do we do now?  Well, we start working on the Fly-In for next year.  That's right, I said next year.  Let's take a year to re-group, re-think and re-store the Fly-In.  If you have suggestions or ideas, feel free to contact us.  If you have money, really, get a hold of us!  The dates for the 2009 Fly-In are June 5th, 6th & 7th, spread the word so that we don't have other fly-ins scheduling at the same time.

In the meantime, if you planned on coming to Merced for the Fly-In, do it anyway.  Even though we aren't having an "official" Fly-In, Gateway Air Center and the local aviation community are graciously sponsoring an airport appreciation day for all of the pilots.  There will be plenty of food and games (and maybe a few surprises) all day Saturday starting at 10 AM.  These folks have been a part of the Fly-In for the past 50 years just like the rest of us and want all of you to feel welcome in Merced once again!  There will even be space available for those wanting to camp under their wing.  For more information about the activities on Saturday, call (209) 722-7300.

For Fly-In business, you can call (209) 725-1223 and leave a message any time or write:
